1Your agreement
Souls of the Titanic is presented by Silverback Events LLC, a Texas limited liability company. In these terms, "we," "us" and "the organizer" mean Silverback Events LLC and Dirk Strangely. "You" means the person buying, and every guest in your party.
By buying a ticket, commissioning artwork, buying merchandise, or attending an event, you agree to these terms. If you are buying for other people, you are responsible for making them aware of these terms before they attend, and you accept these terms on their behalf.
You must be 18 or older to buy. Age requirements are set out below.
2All sales are final
There are no refunds, no exchanges, no transfers and no credits, for any purchase, for any reason.
Each reservation and portrait commission involves advance planning, preparation, and materials that cannot be refunded or recovered. For this reason, all sales are final.
3Tickets and admission
- Your boarding pass is emailed to you after payment. Present it at the door, printed or on your phone. Each code admits one guest.
- A boarding pass may be scanned once. Duplicate or copied codes will be refused.
- We may refuse admission or remove any guest, without refund, as described under Conduct below.
- Ticket categories describe the china used in your tea service. All guests receive the same program, exhibition access, food selections and keepsakes.
- Seating is assigned at our discretion. We will do our best with seating requests but cannot guarantee them.
- Arriving late may mean missing part of the program. No allowance is made for late arrival.
- Tickets are for personal use. They may not be resold, auctioned, or used for advertising, promotion or any commercial purpose without our written permission.
Food, allergies and dietary needs
The full menu is published in advance so each guest can decide what is right for them. Food is prepared in a kitchen that handles common allergens, including nuts, dairy, eggs, gluten and shellfish. We cannot guarantee that any item is free of any allergen, and we cannot guarantee against cross contamination. Guests with allergies or dietary restrictions attend at their own discretion and are responsible for their own choices. Tell us about dietary needs when you buy and we will pass them to the venue, but we cannot promise an accommodation.
4Children & Age Requirements
All ticket purchases must be made by an adult aged 18 or older. Guests ages 13 to 17 are welcome but must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or responsible adult throughout the event. Children under 13 are not permitted.
Our events are designed to provide an elegant, immersive atmosphere featuring fine dining, live music, and storytelling. This age requirement helps preserve an enjoyable experience for all guests.
Photography & Videography
Photography and video recording may take place throughout the event for promotional, marketing, and documentation purposes.
By purchasing a ticket for a minor, the parent or legal guardian acknowledges that the minor may be photographed or recorded during the event and consents to the use of the minor's image, likeness, and appearance in event-related photographs and videos, including on websites, social media, and promotional materials, without compensation.
5Portrait commissions
- Payment in full is required at the time of order. Commissions are strictly limited and the count is not reopened.
- If you are attending, Dirk will photograph those appearing in your portrait during the event, and that photograph is the reference for the artwork.
- Each portrait is an original interpretation by the artist in the manner of Titanic era portraiture. It is a work of art, not a photographic likeness, and the artist's interpretation is final. Dissatisfaction with artistic interpretation is not grounds for a refund.
- Completed portraits will be shipped to you after the event estimated delivery of 1 week. For any additional questions, you can send an email to dirkstrangely@gmail.com
- The live portrait is completed during the event and goes home with its owner that evening.
6Merchandise and prints
- Items are sold as described on the site. Colors on a screen may differ from the finished piece.
- Limited editions are limited as stated and are not reprinted.
- Original paintings are not for sale. They are reserved for museums, exhibitions, or a single steward of the complete collection.
- Print editions are not yet released. Joining the list places no obligation on either of us and is not a purchase.
- Shipping within the United States only, unless we agree otherwise in writing. Risk passes to you on delivery by the carrier.
7Photography and filming consent
Our events are photographed and filmed. By buying a ticket and by entering the venue, you irrevocably consent, on your own behalf and on behalf of any minor in your care, to the following:
- That you may be photographed, filmed, recorded on video, and recorded in audio, at any point during the event, including your name, likeness, image, voice and appearance.
- That Silverback Events LLC and Dirk Strangely own all such recordings outright.
- That we may use, edit, reproduce, publish, broadcast and distribute them in any medium now known or later invented, anywhere in the world, forever, without payment to you, for any purpose connected with the event, the artwork or the business, including advertising, promotion, social media, press, documentary and archival use.
- That you waive any right to inspect or approve the finished material, and any claim arising from its use, including any claim for defamation, invasion of privacy, or right of publicity.
Guests may take photographs and video for their own personal, non-commercial use. Commercial photography, professional recording equipment and press access require our written permission in advance.
8Assumption of risk, release and indemnity
Read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights.
Assumption of risk
You understand that attending an event carries risk, including but not limited to slips, trips and falls, hot liquids and hot food, allergic reactions, contact with other guests, illness including communicable disease, damage to or loss of personal property, and the ordinary hazards of a public venue. You voluntarily assume all such risks, known and unknown, for yourself and for any minor in your care.
Release
To the fullest extent permitted by Texas law, you release, waive and discharge Silverback Events LLC, Dirk Strangely, the venue hosting the event, and each of their owners, officers, members, employees, contractors, performers, volunteers, agents and insurers from any and all claims, demands, damages, losses, costs and expenses of any kind, including personal injury, death, illness, and property loss or damage, arising from or connected to your attendance at or participation in the event, your use of the venue, or your purchase.
This release applies whether the loss arises from the ordinary negligence of any released party or from any other cause. It does not apply to gross negligence, willful misconduct, or anything that cannot lawfully be released.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the released parties against any claim brought by you, by any guest in your party, or by any third party, arising from your own acts or omissions, or those of a minor in your care, at the event.
Limit of our liability
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, the total liability of the released parties to you, for any and all claims, is limited to the amount you actually paid for the ticket or item that the claim concerns. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including travel costs, accommodation, lost time or lost earnings.
The venue
Events are held at third party venues. Each venue has its own rules, and you agree to follow them. We do not control the venue's premises and are not responsible for its acts or omissions, its condition, or its own food handling.
9Conduct and removal
These are intimate events in small rooms, and much of what is on display is irreplaceable. We may refuse admission to, or remove, any guest who in our sole judgment:
- behaves in a way that is disruptive, abusive, threatening or unsafe,
- is intoxicated or under the influence,
- handles or interferes with the artwork, the White Star Line collection, the replica china, or any other property on display,
- refuses to follow a reasonable instruction from staff or from the venue,
- presents an invalid, duplicate or transferred boarding pass.
No refund is given to a guest refused admission or removed. You are responsible for any damage you or a minor in your care causes to the artwork, the collection, the venue or its property.
Artifacts and artwork are displayed to be looked at, not touched. Please do not handle anything unless invited to.
10Changes and cancellation by us
We may change the date, time, venue, menu, program, performers or any other element of an event. If a material detail changes we will tell ticket holders at the email address used to buy.
If we cancel an event outright and do not reschedule it, we will refund the ticket price paid. That is the full extent of our obligation. We are not responsible for any other cost you incur, including travel, accommodation, childcare or time off work.
If an event cannot go ahead for reasons outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, fire, flood, power failure, illness, public health order, government action, labor action, or venue failure, we may reschedule it and the price you paid can be credited toward another event. If ticket prices for the future event are higher, guests will be responsible for paying the difference. All sales are final, and no refunds will be issued.

12Your information
We collect your name, email address, phone number, the names of your guests, and where relevant your shipping address, in order to sell you a ticket or an item and to run the event. Payments are handled by Stripe and we never see or store your full card details.
We use your email address to send your boarding pass, your order confirmation, shipping updates, and news about Souls of the Titanic. You can ask us to stop sending news at any time by replying to any email.
We do not sell your information. We share it only with the people who need it to deliver what you bought, such as the venue, our payment processor and our shipping carrier.
13General
- Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts serving Montgomery County, Texas, and you agree to that venue.
- Changes to these terms. We may update these terms. The version in force when you bought is the version that applies to that purchase. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
- If part of this is unenforceable. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- Entire agreement. These terms, together with what was stated on the page where you bought, are the whole agreement between us.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce something, that does not waive our right to enforce it later.
